Private Sector Engagement

ABOUT

The information panel on private sector engagement in the native vegetation protection agenda is an initiative of the Observatório do Código Florestal (OCF). Based on information provided annually to CDP, it offers an overview of the measures being adopted by companies regarding their responsibility in the implementation of the Forest Code (Law No. 12,651/2012). The goal is to facilitate access to this information and expand knowledge about how the private sector has demanded and monitored the application of the law by its suppliers and clients.

This initiative emerges as a source of reliable and open-access data to better understand the scenario of Forest Code compliance by the private sector. The aim is to create a space that promotes understanding and improvement of the criteria adopted by the sector, strengthening and advancing the implementation of the law, as well as providing a space for dialogue and opportunities for responsible organizations and producers.

The Forest Code is crucial for the protection and restoration of Brazil's native vegetation. It presents a unique opportunity for responsibility over land use and the identification of environmentally responsible and law-compliant productive areas.

Knowing how private institutions have demanded and verified compliance with this law is important to enhance the use of this instrument as a driver for responsible supply chains. This information allows the identification of barriers and creates opportunities to develop solutions, promote improvements, and avoid risks, contributing to the increase of environmentally compliant areas and the growth of Brazilian agribusiness.
